The perfect way to show tourists around also without breaking any piggy banks along the way. This list has one indoor and a ton of outdoor ideas all around Austin.




  1. The Blanton Museum of Art - The perfect way to beat the heat and explore beautiful works of art. The Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas at Austin is one of the largest university art museums in the U.S., ha isn’t that amazing! It’s also free to all guests on Thursdays! However, on any other day visits are $12 which isn’t that bad. Open Tuesday-Sunday check link for actual times.

  2. Barton Springs Pool- The coldest water I’ve jumped into. Barton Springs offers such a great grassy place to lounge and take a dip and refresh from the Texas heat. Swim at your own risk clearly, it’s a natural spring. The cost is under $10 so enjoy!

  3. Bats on South Congress- Sounds like a rad band if you're not from Austin, TX. These guys will definitely put on a show. If you head to the south congress bridge around sunset now that can be anywhere from 7-9 pm the bats come out to play. (Perfect viewing is located between Line Hotel and the Hyatt that’s the bridge) Also if you decide to go to P6 you can drink and watch the bats. These bats fly out and form quite a sight especially as the sun is setting. You can even rent a kayak and watch it from the water. If you are trying to save money just watch from the bridge.

  4. Mount Bonell- The perfect Destination to view the sunset and get a view of the city. Drive down the freeway, park and a brisk uphill walk later BAM a view from above. This adventure is totally free however you must park at your own risk! Enjoy this one maybe bring a bottle of wine. Please, whatever you do if you bring something to take it home and dispose of it properly.

  5. Zilker Park- Visit the beauty that is Zilker park cough Zilker Dog park. Zilker has a great view of the city and people gather and play sport have picnics it’s seriously the perfect place to be. Tons of dogs mash around Zilker as it is a stomping ground for the furry friends to free roam. SO be mindful don’t feel like you own the park during a picnic the dogs do! Eat at your own risk
